After school clubs

We have a range of after school clubs that are open to pupils from year 2 to year 6 as follows:

Monday:

Urdd club with Mrs Read and Mrs Parry:
Pupils take part in a range of games and activities which develop their use of spoken welsh, they prepare craft and drama items for the local Eisteddfod competition. In the summer they work in the school garden. Library club , now on Monday lunchtime with Mrs Williams- pupils are able to research topics of interest and read for pleasure as well as work on projects.

 
Tuesday:

Lunchtime football club with Mrs Borthwick
Pupils develop skills and play small sided games in readiness for matches within a small schools league. Girls and boys are encouraged to attend.

After school music club with Mr Hughes
Pupils learn folk dances, songs and take part in drama activities. Mr Hughes is a trained actor and singer and pupils develop a range of skills.

 

Wednesday:

Netball and rounders club with Miss Fisher Pupils learn the skills of netball and rounders in readiness for competitive games within the small schools consortium. Chess club at lunchtime - pupils practice and play chess against friends in readiness for competing in the county chess tournament. Run by year 6 pupils.

Thursday


Lunchtime running club with Mrs A. Parry Pupils build up their running skills and stamina by taking part in relays, shuttle runs and short sprints. This prepares them for athletics competitions as well as cross country running competitions.


After school athletics club with Miss Parsons Pupils learn the three disciplines of running, throwing and jumping. They practice the disciplines in readiness for county athletics tournaments and sports day.

If pupils attend clubs they can develop and practise the skills they have learned within the curriculum, they are keeping active and healthy and also have the opportunity to compete against other schools throughout the year. After school clubs run from 3.20 until 4 pm.
